Why Diwali Matters

Diwali, or Deepavali, celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over fear. From the homecoming of Lord Rama to the glowing lamps of today’s diaspora, it reminds us that even in the darkest times, light always finds a way to shine through.

Diwali is observed on Kartik Amavasya — the new-moon night considered the darkest of the year. In 2025, this sacred night falls in November, marking a symbolic moment when millions of homes across the world illuminate the sky with lamps and hearts with joy. The days that follow bring more festivals of gratitude and renewal: Bhai Dooj, celebrating the bond between siblings; Chhath Puja, honoring the Sun God; and Guru Nanak Jayanti, spreading the message of compassion and service.

Across the world — whether through Hanukkah candles, Christmas stars, Kwanzaa kinaras, Thailand’s Loi Krathong, or even England’s Guy Fawkes Night — communities celebrate the power of light as a force for renewal. Our Diwali celebration embraces this universal spirit of illumination, harmony, and hope.

Arrive early to enjoy the full experience — seating begins at 1:00 PM and the curtain rises at 2:00 PM sharp.
